Task 3: Design Exploration and Application
Instruction
Task 3
We were tasked to come out with 3 proposals to discuss, including sketches, mind-maps, and digital designs.
design a typeface that is meant to solve a problem/creating an experimental typeface *the experimental typeface no need to digitise it but creating it by using different materials that are my are of interest.
Therefore, I decided to go with designing a typeface that can solve a problem. My idea is to create acrylic geometric shapes for kids to learn all the alphabets with a creative way. I will showcase a package, and what's including inside are 26 small packs of geometric shapes that are meat to be combined together to become an alphabet, it will also come along with an instruction book.
I named the learning game as Geo-Game as it will be created by geometric shapes and also a game for kids to learn alphabets.

Then I started with 5 basic geometric shapes to create the alphabets and few punctuations at adobe illustration.

After creating all the letters, I head to Adobe Photoshop to make the acrylic effect:Figure 1.3 acrylic effect in Photoshop_27.10.21

Feedback
Week 10
Specific Feedback:
Mr.Vinod agreed with my initial idea, he also provided feedbacks that I can make a box that with the acrylic shape inside and come a long with a references book that can tell the kids how to play.
General Feedback:
Week 12
Specific Feedback:
Mr.Vinod said that I don't have to generate the typeface out as my initial idea is to solve the problem.
General Feedback:
Things that need to include in Task 3 is idea exploration, proposal, progression and JPEG&PDF file for final submission.
Reflection
Experience:
This project get me went explore how the children learn, and I found it quite useful and interesting as I can get to know the extra knowledge.
Observations:
I found the G created by using geometric shapes quite weird, I have tried several times with different shapes but still look not so suitable. The most letter that I like is "B", "L", and "S" as I did not use two rectangle to create the "L" but rectangle and circle.
Findings:
This is the first time I creating such project to help with the children in learning. Never realised that typography can be something that we have already get contact with since young. I hope this project can happen in real life someday, not only mock up but really can bring to the market and help the children all around the world.
